Gwangju Democracy Forum(GDF) 2024

The Gwangju Democracy Forum(GDF) 2024 will take place from May 14 to 18 2024 in the May 18 Week.

This year theme of GDF 2024 is “Crisis of Freedom- The Future We Want”, and around 10 session are to be organized under the 3 thematic cluster 1) The Future What We Want, 2) Election and Democracy in Asia, 3) Challenges of Transistional Justice and Impunity to examine the evolution of how freedom is defined and its varied perceptions.

The youth component who are studying in the field of democracy, human rights and peace in South Korea will join the Gwangju Youth Democracy Forum(Y-GDF) 2024. Prior to the GDF in the Y-GDF 2024, participants are expected to discuss three clusters from the GDF under the overarching theme “We Are The Future” as a preparation to attend GDF.

All GDF participants will attend the 44th Anniversary of the May 18 Democratic Uprising National Ceremony and the Gwangju Prize for Human Rights(GPHR) Awards ceremony on May 18.
