The Civil Society Activists Academy 2021
The Civil Society Activist Academy (hereinafter the “Civil Society Academy”) is a program designed to enhance human rights sensitivity and build capabilities of activists at civic groups by providing them with practical field training. By attending lectures and discussions, participants have pondered on the value and spirit of the May 18 Democratic Uprising. Also, domestic training courses and overseas trips to sites related to human rights have let them cultivate abilities to find solutions to pending issues of democracy and human rights, and build network with other activists at home and abroad. This year, the Civil Society Academy will be conducted online due to COVID-19. Under the theme of “Asia in the Context of Democracy,” video lectures on the progress of democratization movement in Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand and human rights issues will be provided to participants at home and abroad. This program consists of three parts and aims to enhance understanding of democracy and human rights in Southeast Asia.
